Thomas
B. Cahill, Attorney at Law, is a solo practitioner in the area
of commercial real estate law representing developers and
retailers in retail and office leasing, acquisition and
disposition. Tom has more than twenty years of experience in
real estate transactions, with particular emphasis on the
shopping center industry. A significant portion of those
transactions included multi-party easement agreements among
various landowners in shopping centers.
Prior to establishing his own practice, Tom had a successful career as a corporate attorney for Sears, and as a partner in private practice.
Some of Tom's notable accomplishments include:
- Representing a national big box retailer in numerous transactions involving multi-parcel assemblages
- Representing a national department store in its acquisition of nine department stores in a single transaction structured as a tax free exchange
- Acting as a corporate General Counsel's representative on
the team negotiating one of the largest real estate debt
restructurings
Well known in the shopping center legal community, Tom has
conducted advanced workshops and roundtables at the Law
Conference of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

His peers have recognized Tom by awarding him a Martindale
Hubbell AV Rating, which identifies him as a lawyer with very
high to preeminent legal ability and the highest professional
and ethical standards.
Tom earned his B.A. degree from Illinois Benedictine College
and his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law
(cum laude).
Tom is licensed to practice before the Illinois
Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court. He is a
member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC)
and the DuPage County Bar Association. He also supports
attorneys from other parts of the country by acting as local
counsel on behalf of their clients who are involved in
transactions in Illinois.
